What We Do

The Ministry of Internal Security is the ministerial body to provide constitutional oversight of all internal security agencies at the federal government level; it directs all of the various functional departments, directorates, and intelligence and security services for which the MOIS is responsible. It defines and delineates objectives, roles, missions, responsibilities, and coordinating systems, policies, and procedures between not only those security services over which the MOIS has command and control but also between federal forces and those security departments, directorates, and intelligence and security forces commanded by the Federal Member States (FMS) security authorities.

Responsibility for Internal Security

There are seven law enforcement agencies within the auspices of the MOIS, namely:
A. Federal Somali Police Force.
B. National Intelligence & Security Agency.
C. Immigration & Border Control Agency.
D. SEMA (Demining Authority — humanitarian and security
E. WAM (Weapons and Ammunition Management)
F. Maritime Policing.
G. Civil Defence
